DRF makes grants based on three criteria:
All DRF grants embody this strategic approach to grantmaking. The “multiplier effect” is important in that positive results from grants made reverberate throughout the Dan River Region. Our Make It Happen! (MIH!) grant program is an example of this “multiplier effect.” As everyday citizens participate in the program, making dreams they have for “bright spots” within their communities a reality, more citizens become involved. This effect is contagious, spreading positive change throughout the Dan River Region.
DRF’s regional approach also encourages collaboration. In order to increase the competitive advantage of the Dan River Region, organizations and local governments within the area need to work together to ensure growth and prosperity. In order to compete against the global economy, a collaborative culture within our region is imperative.
