Is the precision machining jobs pipeline working?

It never fails that when I’m out in the community, I’m asked questions — about the River District, about The Health Collaborative, about Make More Happen and many other initiatives the Danville Regional Foundation has invested in over the years.

Most recently, the questions posed to me have been, “Can you tell me how many jobs precision machining has actually brought to the area?” and “Is this precision machining thing working?”

We live in age of instant gratification. We want to see immediate results. We want to see projects announced, completed and open to the public in shorter periods of time. We want what we want and we want it right now.

 
Unfortunately, this is not our reality. Changing an economy is a long-term process, not a short-term project. And we’re playing the “long game.”
