2021 Nonprofit Capacity Building Training

Are you a nonprofit Board member or staffer looking to sharpen your skills in areas such as fundraising, grant writing and volunteer management?
The Danville Regional Foundation is once again sponsoring the nonprofit training series offered through the Nonprofit Management Program, a unit of Duke University Office of Continuing Studies. There will be two courses of study to choose from.
The series will be offered at the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research and the class size for each session will be limited to fifteen (15). Registration is required and is accessible through www.drfonline.org with a list of classes offered along with course descriptions.
What do you need to know?
- The intensive certificate track will be held online April 12–15 and June 7-10, 2021.
- Registration is first come, first serve.
- Please limit your organization′s representation to no more than two individuals in any one course. Ideally one staff member and one board member.
- Participants must work or live in Caswell County, NC, Pittsylvania County, VA, or the City of Danville.
- Coursework may be applied towards the Duke University Certificate in Nonprofit Management.

DRF will not charge a registration fee. Deadline for registration for the Intensive Training Track April 2, 2021 in writing. All spaces are on a first come registration basis up to 15 participants.

Up to 15 students are accepted into the 2021 Nonprofit Capacity Building Training Series.

Virtual - Online-Zoom
Classes will be a series of live, interactive Webinars. A link to each instructor’s handouts will be provided to staff at the Danville Regional Foundation.
Classes meet from 9am to 4pm each day, starting promptly at 9am and ending at 4pm. 15 students are accepted into each class. Students earn 6 course hours per class. Hours may be applied toward the Duke Certificate in Nonprofit Management. Contact Duke Nonprofit Management staff if you have questions.
Earn Your Duke Certificate in Nonprofit Management by attending all 8 classes in this Series
You may earn the Duke Certificate in Nonprofit Management if you attend each of the 8 Virtual classes in the 2021 Nonprofit Capacity Building Training Series and complete assigned pre-reading materials.
You must register with Starling McKenzie, Senior Program Officer, Danville Regional Foundation, before the first class in the NP Capacity Building Training Series starts - to let him know if you will be participating in the Custom Intensive Track Option, or taking classes individually.
Danville Regional Foundation staff will send Duke Nonprofit Management staff a list of all registered participants for each class, highlighting participants who selected the Custom Intensive Track Option.
Custom Intensive Track Option: Requirements for earning the Duke Certificate in Nonprofit Management (8-Classes)
A participant who attends all 8 Online classes in this Nonprofit Capacity Building Training Series (April 27, May 25, Jun 22, Jul 27, Aug 24, Sep 28, Oct 26, and Nov 16. 2021) will earn the Duke Certificate in Nonprofit Management. A link to pre-reading assignments will be sent to students planning to earn the Certificate by attending all 8 classes. Pre-reading must be completed before each scheduled class.
No make-up classes will be offered.

Pre-Reading: Pre-reading assignments will be placed in the Duke Box for download by participants. Registered participants will receive a link to Duke Box prior to the first class.

Applicants interested in getting a Duke University Nonprofit Management Certificate must commit by April 9, 2021 in writing. Space is limited to 15 participants and there will be 5 spaces available for individuals interested in specific classes on an as needed basis.
